The Woodcarver's ART
Carving wood is one of the oldest of art forms. Wood carvers
emerged from every culture on the planet. Woodcarvings have been
used to beautify ordinary items, create jewelry, fashion utensils, give
praise to ancient gods and pay homage to men, women and animals.
Although early wood carvings were literally "scraped" using sharp stones,
tools used for woodcarving haven't changed substantially since metal
was first hammered into a chisel shape. Today this tradition
is kept alive by talented woodcarvers from every walk of life on
every continent.
